How to convert .doc to .cwk?

Hello dear people—

A friend of man has an older apple laptop, with older apple software. His word processing software will, apparently, only read .cwk files. Is there a way I can convert some .doc files into a format workable in his software, which I assume to be some version of AppleWorks?

I tried downloading AppleWorks myself, so as to just copy/paste the text from Word and then save it as .cwk in AppleWorks—but that didn't work out, as my Macbook won't open Appleworks.

Not as far as I know.

Apple declared AppleWorks as end of life in 2007 So I see very little chance for a way to do that conversion.

Save the files as plain text or RTF which any version of ClarisWorks or AppleWorks can open. Saving as Word 5 might work.

Have your friend tried to open the .doc in AW? If MacLink plus is installed it might be possible.
