Hindi Marathi typing on Mac Word
To enable typing in devanagari, I followed steps as advised on web. I can now type devanagari in mac mail and on the web but I can't type in devanagari in my mac Word.

It ought to make you resthink about Microsoft. MS Word is the only Mac app in the universe which cannot do Devanagari. Every other app can do it just fine. MS has had 13 years to fix that. They are either very poor at programming or have intentionally crippled Mac Word so as to make people who use it in India stay with Windows.
Try OpenOffice, it is much the same as Mac Word.

In the pervious version of ios for ipad and iphone we could type the Marathi alphabet 'ळ'. But now in ios 7 surprisingly, they have removed the alphabet. Now its impossible to type 100% correct Marathi.

That is because Mac Word has never supported any Indic script. Just about every other app should work.
I can get ळ by holding down the ल key and choosing it from the popup menu.
shift+n gives me ळ on my OS X 10.6.8

Oh, i am a total novice.
This inability to type in devanagari in Mac Word has made me rethink about Mac. My IBM laptop had its myriad flaws but Word on it allowed me to type in devanagari!
I agree. I will try OpenOffice.
