Kernel panics and Finder crashes

Question

I&#x27;m having kernel panics and Finder crashes. I had a few last week, and starting in Safe Boot and resetting the PRAM seemed to work, but now I&#x27;m having them again today. I don&#x27;t get the kernel panic screen; instead, my screen just goes black. The monitor light is on, and the CPU light is on, but I have to force a shut down by holding the power button and then restarting.I restarted in Safe Boot this morning, but that only seemed to work for a couple of hours. I&#x27;ve also noticed that when my computer restarts, the Finder is crashing and redrawing itself several times. Below is the text of my last kernel panic. I guess you have the original OEM 7300GT graphic card and yes over due to retire and get replace with a new ATI Apple 5770. Shame there isn&#x27;t a "please post your system profile hardware information" as there are a couple things with our now 7 yr old 1,1&#x27;s to look at. I would replace the card just to get another year or more out of it, including adding RAM to replace some or all of what you have, and a new system boot drive too. When you have a crash, assume that the system directory needs to be repaired in some manner, and that you need to clone and have bootable backups at all times but from before the crash and an alternate working system to perform any repairs and maintenance. Also helps to boost the fans to improve air flow and cooling. Can&#x27;t hurt to look into the same troubleshooting you would do for a panic. Thanks, hatter. FWIW, I have the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT and the 22" Cinema HD display. This is my work computer, so we&#x27;ll probably just end up replacing it. It&#x27;s been a great machine, but it&#x27;s the oldest one in the office at this point.

For $250 plus $60 RAM and $100 for SSD it will feel like new, and overdue for some of that. That way you can skip 10.9.0 and 6,1 until they have had more time. Or you can pick up a 2009 4,1 from OWC for $850-2000 used with nice specs.
