My itunes does not play music

My itunes does not play music

When I try to play music in itunes the track name appears at the top, but the diamond does not move

I have installed the latest versions of itunes and quick time (including the stand alone version of quicktime)

I have checked the compatibility tab on the itunes program

I have checked the forums for any other options

Any other ideas ?????????

hiya!

okay, starting to step through the more exotic possibilities now.

head into your "Sounds and audio devices" control panel. click on the "audio" tab. is the right soundcard/integrated-audio showing up in the "sound playback" area?

I am having a similar problem. for the past two days, after updating my software, itunes is present on my computer and will open just fine, but it will not respond. it stays frozen, all of my songs are still on there, and i have tried deleting the software and reinstalling it both from the CD and online. I was wondering if anyone could help me out, or had similar problems. Thanks.

Thanks for your response, Yes the default device is shown

Some extra information, if I open a mp3 file in quick time it plays ok there.

hmmmm.

okay, let's try working through the possibilities from this document. (i usually use it for poor-quality sound rather than no sound, but it's occasionally effective with these too.) even though the songs are playing fine in QT, check the QT sound out settings:

iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Songs and other audio don't play correctly

I have tried disabling the sound enhancer - did'nt work
Not tried updating directX yet, I think I did that not to long ago.
Currently updating sound card driver, run out of time now.
I will yet you know how I get on - Thanks
