I'm not sure if I am asking the right question but if any one can help it would be appreciated. Can any one recommend where I can find information on how to reduce file size of .mov files from 35GB to about 1 or 2 GB after editing in FCP 7 and exporting using Quicktime.

the h264 lan preset is a maximum of 854x480 which is standard def widescreen (with square pixels).
If you want to stay with a larger pixel dimension, customize the apple: formats: quicktime: h264 and adjust the video settings in the encoder panel using the quality slider to acheive the desired file size.
