Q: My iMac G5 needs upgrade from 10.4 to 10.5 Leopard

Is there anywhere to download a 10.4 to 10.5 upgrade?

Apple doesn't sell it. I found the upgrades to from 10.5 to 10.5.8 at Apple.com.

If it isn't available for download anywhere reliable, how can I find which upgrade DVDs are compatible (like Apple part number) with my model iMac G5 (won't run 10.6, or is there a way to force that install)?

These install DVDs are expensive on eBay, so I want to be sure I'm getting the right one if I have to go that route.

Thanks

    1. No.

    2. All Mac OS X 10.5 retail DVDs are compatible. Disks which originally shipped with a Mac aren't.

Upgrades means going from one OS X to another such as Tiger to Leopard.

And update means going from 10.5.3 to 10.5.8  (just an example)

I would avoid eBay for purchasing discs.

    Try Amazon instead.

You need to contact Apple in order to get Leopard from Apple assuming they still have copies.

Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775

These discs will be replacement OS install discs.

You will need to give the rep your Mac model and serial number and you'll, also, need a credit card as there is a nominal fee of around $18 for processing and shipping of the disc.

    Good Luck!
