You can add your home movies on DVD to your itunes. make sure they are ina compaitble format, then File>Add to Library
Movies/show that you purchase on DVD ae encrypted to stop you from copying them. It is illegal to break this encryption
The funny thing about the DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) on this is:
While it IS illegal to circumvent copyright protection (which ALL commercially produced DVDs contain), it IS NOT illegal to purchase or own software that can do it. Roxio's Toast and Media Creator Suite both have "ripping" apps that can make a full VIDEO_TS folder or "rip" a digital copy of nearly ANY DVD. There are other apps that can do it too, but you are violating the strict interpretation of the DMCA in doing so.
That being said, MILLIONS of people around the world do this every day believing the "fair use" entitles them to do so for their own personal use. While that's not true, the MPAA usually doesn't "go after" home users. It's the people who sell or upload "ripped" movies for others, that they pursue legal action and litigation against.
Neither of the applications you list can copy or convert an encrypted DVD. The US courts have held on multiple occasions that the sale of software that can break copy protection is illegal.
In any case, the terms of use here explictly prohibit discussions of ripping DVDs, so regardless of your legal opinion, we cannot discuss such matters here.
Regards.

So I guess I was just imagining it all the times I've done so with BOTH.
I really need to stop with the hallucinogenic overdoses while computing.
This is using the commercially produced DVD of "AI: Artificial Intelligence"
Convert IS available, as in IT CAN BE DONE.

Sorry dude, you're as full of **** as a Christmas goose.
Whatever. I don't watch my ripped movies in iTunes anyway. It's a terrible app for video playback as it is.
To echo a recent statement, whatever. Enjoy your Christmas goose.
