Removing camera icon from lock screen

There currently is no way to remove the camera icon from the lock screen. The only possible way to handle it is to restrict the camera by enabling Restrictions. Go to Settings, General, Restrictions and turn on the camera restriction. The downside to this workaround is that you would have to turn off restrictions for you to use the camera.

Settings > General > Restrictions > Enable Restrictions > Camera > ON

Be sure to remember the passcode you set for the restrictions. It can be the same or different from your primary passcode lock.

The only way to remove it from the lock screen is to disable the camera entirely in restrictions.

I'd be a little more concerned about your year old grabbing the phone and throwing it across the room, destroying it...

That was with an older version of the iOS. The newer versions put the camera icon on the lock screen and have not provided a way to turn that off. I don't remember exactly which version placed it on the lock screen, but since it has been there, there has been no way to remove it.

You would have to turn on restrictions and disable the camera.

I don't think so, that feature came out on eithe IOS 5 or 6.

You would have to disable the camera app feature.
