I'm connecting slow and am trying to understand Network Settings. A help page said my problem might be there; however, I know nothing about it outside of automatic configuration. In Advanced Network Settings > DNS tab: DNS Servers: two sets of numbers, one above the other; Search Domains: domain_not_set.invalid is listed across from the first number under DNS Servers. What does that even mean?

That's a problem with your router. Click
Advanced ▹ TCP/IP ▹ Renew DHCP Lease
If there's no change, select the DNS tab and enter "local" {without the quotes} in the Search Domains list. Close the preference pane and save the changes.

I thought I wasn't explaining it right, but you got me instantly!!😮 I played some games, opened links, played Youtube videos and opened links from email and everything is much faster!!😎 So I thought I'd ask some more questions. What is the difference between IPv4 and v6? How do I know if I have a v6? What is the best way to configure my network? Should I just "auto" everything or is there a way to configure it to make my connection faster? It seems I have a slow connection and my ISP can't increase my speed even for more money. Not that I want to pay more money. In Sys Pref> Network> Adv> TCP/IP Tab: IPv4 is DHCP with MY IPv4 Address, Subnet Mask, and my router's Address listed. Under that is IPv6: "Auto" but under that Router, IPv6 Address, and Prefix Length are all empty. If I have an IPv6, is there some file on my MAC where this info can be located? What does Prefix Length mean? Under the DNS Tab where you helped me re: ....invalid, There are two windows. In the first window DNS Servers: it lists my Router's ISP and under another number I never saw before and don't know what it is. It a ##.###.###.## sequence. Is it a v6 address? (I didn't insert these they were just there.) Regardless of any further assistance, Thank you, thank you, thank you!
