How to check itune gift card balance without redeem it?
I will use this as a gift, so I don't want to redeem it.
If the value of the card isn't printed on it, then there is no way to check what the card is worth without redeeming it.

Stupid Apple
Apple probably presumes that most people will remember what they bought. The majority of cards have the value printed on them. It's only the custom cards that don't, and for that you normally will have the receipt. You can comment to Apple on the matter via their feedback pages, though, if you wish:
