Can I connect my Sony Handycam SR62 to my MacBook Pro. Owners manual only refers to only windows

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

Hey, friend

The "Connect" you mean is that you want Mac to play back your handycam's videos? If so, you may fail to do so as Mac does not support its output video format, i.e. MPEG2.

I strongly suggest you to use a third-party converter to make a simple conversion, like converting MPEG2 to MOV for Mac. It supports batch converting, and so you can try~

I don't have an SR62, but I do have a SONY handycam CX190 and a Macbook Pro with iMovie9. It is possible to transfer the movies from this camera to iMovie9 by following PRECISELY the steps detailed in the video at this location:

This worked perfectly for me but I emphasise that you have to follow the steps in the exact order he says!
