Connect Display Mac Mini and Macbook PRO

I have newest Mac Mini and will soon own MacBook Pro.

My Monitor for Mac Mini broke and I can't afford new display right now.

Basically I want to know it is possible to connect Mac Mini with Macbook Pro - and use Macbook Pro as Monitor.

Basically I want to boot as macmini (using macbook pro's display) when I'm home.

I'm photographer and I use Photoshop Lightroom Illustrator InDesign ETC.

some people say screen sharing would work but I've experienced slow lag(?) when i used with my apple tv + TV

Maybe turning both machine off

and booting mac mini into target disk mode?

using firewire cable or thunderbolt (?)

Holding Alt Key?

this is like using macbook pro is using mini as boot drive

will this work?

any suggestion or solution?

Thanks!

Mac OS X (10.6.8)

What you are trying to do is called Target Display Mode, and it is only possible with iMacs, not MacBooks.
