Songs (wav format) dont get its volume reduced when played on the ipod after itunes volume adjustment

I adjust their volume before copying them to the ipod and still sound with the same loudness; the itunes player howeber doesnt have this problem.

I remember it was working just before but i cant figure out what could happen in between.

Please help me as this problem is getting ever more annoying, thanks.
