How do I check the battery charge level of my old iPod Shuffle?

How do I check the battery level of my old iPod shuffle. This is the old one that looks like a stick of chewing gum.

It sounds like the white 1st gen shuffle. I'm not sure if you mean during use, or when it is connected to the computer.


During use... On the back side, there is the large flat power switch. Turn it on. Just below that switch is a narrow button. Press that button. An indicator LED on the button shows a color. Green is full charge. Amber is less than full charge. Red is low charge.


When connected... The light on the front of shuffle (as well as that button light on the back) will turn green when fully charged. If it is continuously flashing the amber color, you probably have it set to Enable disk use. If so, when you eject the shuffle (without disconnecting it), the light will stop flashing (and show green when fully charged). When the light is flashing, it never turns green. Flashing light means Do Not Disconnect.
