A couple of annoying issues - any help appreciated

I've tried the search and what comes up seems to be pretty old so I thought I would ask the community to see if I can get some help with a couple of annoying issues I'm having.

1. I've noticed that the WIFI connection at my work seems to have to reconnect when I close the laptop or if the screen goes dark for long time (1 hour). Originally I didn't have this problem and now I seem to be experiencing it for whatever reason. Could this be due to my Energy Saver settings? For the Power Adaptor I have the following settings:

Computer sleep: 15min

Display sleep: 15min

Put hard disks to sleep when possilbe and Wake for network access are both checked.

2. This problem happens like 1/20 times so I don't think I could reproduce it if I took it into the store. When I close my laptop, sometimes the screen doesn't come back - it just remains black. Even if I hit the keys to try to 'wake it up'; it won't do anything or I will have to close the laptop again and reopen to try to trigger the computer awake. Is there a setting for this or is this just a glitch?

Thanks in advance - hope that peeps won't be too brutal if I did miss a post that could have answered my questions.

1 is not normal and it shows that something on your Mac is corrupted. the system should always reconnect to the WiFi signal it was connected to whenn coming out of sleep or from the screen going dark.

2 could be the magnetic switch that controls puttiing the system to sleep and waking it up when the lid is closed and then opened isn't functioning correctly. You Mac still thinks the lid is closed and reclosing it then opening it a seocnd time jars the switch into working correctly.
