Cursor jump from Safari to Yahoo browser while typing

When I open up Safari, I usually will type something into the URL bar of Safari, but because I have Yahoo as my homepage, the cursor will jump from the Safari URL bar to the yahoo search box. It usually does this as I'm typing mid sentence, right after I load up Safari. Is there any way to stop the cursor from jumping from Safari to Yahoo automatically? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? This is kind of annoying.

Google Chrome doesn't seem to do this... or it is because possibly that Chrome loads up quicker. So if Yahoo.com is my homepage and I open Google Chrome, I click into the (Chrome) URL and the cursor won't jump to the Yahoo search box, like it does in Safari. It might be because Chrome loads up the yahoo page quicker so there is no chance for it to jump, but I'm not completely sure that's the case.

I'm thinking of just permanently switching to Chrome because there doesn't seem to be setting to stop this in Safari.

Another solution: Install and activate Adblock. Browse to the offending web page. Right click on the search box and select "Block this ad". The search box will disappear and the cursor focus will not be changed when the web page is loading, otherwise the web page will work as usual except that you can't use the web page search box of course. This solution is from another site.

This problem has been bugging me for sooooo long! I swear I remember seeing an option somewhere once that said, "Automatically move cursor to search box" but for the life of me can't find that option anywhere. Maybe it was when I used to used Mozilla, I know just stick to Safari as I find it fast enough.

My solution, setting blank.org as my home page. It's quicker and doesn't steal my cursor. Seeings as my browser search bar searches google anyway, it doesn't bother me not having my home page as google. (Same would go if I had yahoo set instead)

WORKED! I must point out that after much digging this is the best solution.

Monsieur digicub, thank you. I am happy to forego seeing Google's logo, as the whole point of this was to be able to open a new tab (Command + T) hit Tab (sending the cursor straight to the address bar) and be able to continue typing my search query, without being thrown out midway 🙂
