I would like to buy an album that is not available in the Canadian iTunes Store - only the American Store. Is there no way around that issue?

Sorry... But... You cannot use other countries itunes stores.
You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country...

Can you not buy the CD locally and then add it to your iTunes Library...
I'll check a few music stores around the city, but I'm afraid very few would carry a ten year old Cure album...an album which may or may not have ever been released in Canada. Worth a shot, though.
