Inconsistent ratings in Music for iOS and iTunes

I like to have all my music collection rated. Sometimes I rate individual songs and others entire albums as iTunes has an option to do that. I also have a smart playlist with all my "unrated" songs to see which ones I haven't reviewed yet. It turns out that my "unrated" smart playlist on my iPhone is much larger than the one on my Mac because it considers all the songs I have rated as part of an album and not individually as unrated. Is there any way to fix this inconsistency?
