AirPort to AirPort communication

I currently use an AirPort Express for my WiFi. I wanted to extend the network range within my home so I planned to purchase an AirPort Extreme but I've also just purchased a Direct TV DVR unit that would be located on another floor of my home, away from my internet provider's line. My question is this: Can I place one AirPort right at the DVR and have the other "talk" to it from my base station so I can establish wireless control over the DVR?

Many thanks in advance!

You can use multiple AirPort base stations in an extended wireless network configuration. Please check out the following Apple Support article for details.

The end result is that you would have a single "extended" wireless network created by both base stations. Network clients, like the Direct TV DVR, should be able to connect to this network for both local network connectivity and Internet access.
