I've downloaded the update several times now and it's still giving me a notification to download the update, any suggestions?

Sometimes the App Store version doesn't work correctly. In this case, install OS X 10.8.4 through the Combo version > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1659
The Combo installer is the safest way to update Mac OS X and it allows you to install it in more than one computer with a single download
