Can't connect to itunes.

My ipod touch was over heating and eventually broke down. The last thing I did was plug it into my pc too try to restore it. Ever since then I have not been able to connect a device to itunes or have it show up on my pc. My touch does nothing. I bought a shuffle just to get the tunes going but can't even use it. Glad I bought something cheap and not a new touch.

I have tried everything people suggest, disable startups, uninstall, ports. Not sure what to do. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.
