Who is your email provider? Did you get all of the settings from the provider to enter into the phone? Is the error only for receiving mail, or for sending as well? Recheck the settings, more than likely you have missed entering something for the username and password. There are a couple of places in the setup that are marked optional, but most email providers require them.

comcast is my provider and i have mentioned everything that is happening. I go to comcast or all mailboxes on my phone and I get no updated emails....at all. Then if I try to send anything it tells me that I have a copy of the sent message in my outbox but was not sent. i quoted above exactly the message I get when trying to receive my mail. When I try to send mail it tells me the sender address was rejected by the serve, comcast.Thats all i have!!

also, it will tell me " the POP server "<some email address>" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you have entered the information correctly in the " incoming mail server " field, which I have done

That's your problem. you entered your email address in the server name field, it is not the URL of the server. The server should be mail.comcast.net.

Now you should also delete your email address from this thread, as it will be seen by millions of people, not all of them honest.
