They've got me for a second and I clicked the link which opened an empty Safari page.

My question is:

What could happened in the background? Like, there is a potential danger of anything now, since I've clicked the link?

Thanks!

If you did not respond with any information regarding your Apple ID and password, you should be ok but as a safeguard, change your password ASAP > Apple ID: Changing your password

You can send email to Apple to report phishing. Click on this email address > reportphishing@apple.com

Identifying fraudulent "phishing" email

For Safari. From your Safari menu bar click History > Clear History

You do not have to change your password on all devices. Just one time here > Apple ID: Changing your password

You've had the same password, "forever"... that's not good. You need to change the password on a timely basis to prevent phishing from happening again.

If you are using iCloud you will have to sign out and sign back in again with the new password on all your devices. Your iCloud data will disappear when you sign out but reappear when you sign back in.

You sign out by clicking 'Sign out' in System Preferences>iCloud on a Mac, but on an iOS device in Settings>iCloud it's confusingly labelled 'Delete account - clicking this will not delete your account from the server, just remove it from the device.

If you are using the same ID in iTunes and are signed in you will need to sign out and back in again.
