Tricks to connect my iPod Classic to a Sony Blu-ray player?

I'm trying to get my iPod Classic to play through my Sony Blu ray player. Unfortunatley, I think they're just not compatible. But there's always hope!
You guys are smart if anybody has any ideas let me hear 'em.

Here's a list of what I've tried so far, unsuccessfully; I connect my iPod to the A/V input, but it did not generate the sound that I wanted.

I connected to the Blu ray's usb port this improves the sound but I have no control over what music is played and all of the music folders and files have weird labels on them so I don't know what any of the folders or song files contain.

I had the same problem with Sony BluRay BDP-S3100 and iPod Nano (6th gen.).

I had a nice online "chat session" with Apple, and they said a couple of things.

One was that a USB connection is not the "best" connection for audio files, I thought

that was an interesting factoid. :-) The BluRay player said the "USB device" was

"not supported." It just can't "see" the iPod.

But the Apple chat tech said I should try hooking the iPad directly

to the TV via a headphone jack -- didn't have one -- BUT...my stereo system DOES

have a headphone jack, so he said to get a cable that has two male plugs -- one is

the 3.5mm headphone plug, and the other is the mini (for iPod) plug. Voila! Apple

sells that kind of cable, but I'm sure one could be found at Radio Shack etc.

I hope this helps you! I don't have a cable yet so I can't say if this solves the problem

for me or anyone else, but it's where I'm going to start.

Responding to my own message... WHAT WAS THAT GUY THINKING??? 😁

I now realize he was having me hook up two "audio out" jacks to each other!!!

Not gonna work, folks. I'm now looking for other options...

One suggestion was to hook the iPod into a MIC jack on the stereo equipment,

but we don't have one. Still farbling around... Will report back if I find success

with something. ANYTHING! :-)

Responding to my OWNself once again...

We finally decided to just plug my iPod directly into our pre-amp

with a cable that has a mini stereo plug at one end (coming out

of the iPod), and 2 RCA plugs on the other end to plug into the

"audio in" RCA jacks on the pre-amp. Now we can play our MP3

music straight thru our sound system. Very happy! But that chat

guy from Apple *really* led me astray! He had me joining an

audio out to an audio out. Oy. 😝

The whole point of plugging the iPod into the BluRay was just to

let the music come thru our sound system via the TV. We just

didn't know the direct route was possible. Anyway, that was our

solution.

Just fyi...
