how do I overlap text boxes in pages?

I am trying to make a monogram and am trying to overlap letters.

So far I have created these letters in separate boxes BUT I'm having trouble "layering" them so they all can be seen.

Click Text Box. Select it and choose Arrange > Send Objects to Background, and Arrange > Make Background Objects Selectable. Now, from the Text, Metrics, and Graphic Inspector, you can size and then fill with the effect you want. This will distinquish your background Text Box. You might consider temporarily changing the placeholder text to “Back” for organizational purposes.

From the Toolbar, click Text Box again. This is now your foreground object. Select this foreground Text Box and use the Inspectors as you did previously. You may even wish to use the Graphics Inspector's Opacity slider for additional overlay transparency effect. Drag the foreground Text Box over the background Text Box as desired.

When you have the desired overlay effect, you may wish to select both and choose Arrange > Group.
