Do notes get erased when you "Erase All Content and Settings"?

I've been having problems lately with my iPhone 4s and I learned from a visit to my local genius bar that I need to erase all content an settings in order to rid my iPhone of the corrupt data it has been plauged with that has been affecting its functioning. I've basically backed up everything I need except notes, but that's because I'm not sure if they are deleted or not after I go finish the process. Can someone help?
