Touch screen not working

Help! iPod Touch is frozen. When I turn it on I get a message that iCloud Backup is unable access the account. When I press the Ignore button it highlights but nothing happens. When I press the Settings button it highlights but nothing happens. If I try to shut down the iPod the slide is not working.
