Sep 5, 2013 8:52 PM in response to randers4by wnreiaglhet,Thanks randers4 for the prompt reply but it can!!! Luckily I found the solution in this thread (see below). Re: @me.com domain gone from alias; can't send or receive email; anyone else? I simply edited the Alternative Email Addresses at the bottom of the page in my apple ID settings and it worked!

hi guys, I think i finally got the solution how to fix the issue that we are talking about here.
1. login to http://appleid.apple.com
2. you might find your lost @me.com address is displayed as your primary email, which is weird, and wrong.
3. edit it, correct it.
4. update your secruity settings, to force server re-freshing your account.
5. login to iCloud, mail -> preferences -> accounts, your lost @me.com should be there again.
it's all about apple mistakenly asigned wrong Primary Email when new @iCloud.com was deployed.
still, I would never imagine the apple would drag me into this, and seems apple never treat this as important.
hope it will help!

Sep 5, 2013 8:55 PM in response to wnreiaglhetby randers4,But that's for a primary email address associated with your ID, not an alias address. From http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622:
"Deleting an alias is permanent, so if you think you might want to use the alias again, you should simply turn it off."

Sep 5, 2013 9:16 PM in response to randers4by wnreiaglhet,OK. I get it, you get one "alternative" email address associated with your ID and up to 5 "aliases". So what I have done is to edit my "alternative" email address to be the same as one of my old "aliases". Is that correct?

You may have 2 other addresses that can also be used interchangeably, but they aren't alias addresses subject to the same restrictions as the three you can create youself.
If you ever create an alias address yourself and then delete it, it can't be reactivated.
