That won't actually help with a PC opening a Pages document. The problem stems from that file (.pages) not being compatible with any PC based word processing application.
To allow a PC (presuming that Microsoft Office is installed) to open your document, you have a couple options. Apple's knowledgebase has an article that goes into some depth on this topic:
