Unique Situation - Intermittent Slow Processing

Question

Hi There,I run Snow Leopard 10.6.8, on a 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, 500GB hard drive with 93.64 GB available.  I have 5 different user logins on this computer, but mainly use 3 of them. Back in April or May I used the Migration Assistant to bring in two other profiles (taking me from 3 to 5 profiles) from a computer that was experiencing stalling and freezing issues.  Up to this point, my computer was in good shape.  Since the migration, I have increasingly been experience poor/slow performance with applications taking a long time to boot up, at times the computer taking a long time to boot up or not booting up at all, freezing for 1-2 minutes then resuming it&#x27;s processing, etc....  In order to try to remedy the situation, I have started using the PRAM reset &amp; Permissions Repair Disk Utility when the slow issues begin.  This seems to help the problem, but usually within a week, things start slowing down again.  I&#x27;m to the point now of doing the PRAM reset &amp; permissions repair at least once a week if not every couple of days.  I&#x27;ve done web searches and read a ton of information, but nothing really seems to speak to my specific issue.  Any help would be much appreciated.
