I've had the Podcast app for awhile on my iPhone 5. I woke up this morning and the app was gone. I went to the app store to re-download it, but the store shows that I still have it and the button tells me to "Open" the app. When I clicke the Open button nothing happens. When I search my iPhone for the app or any of the podcasts I subscribe to, nothing comes up. Has anyone else seen this problem or have any suggestions? Thanks!

An alternative solution-
The app wasn't working for me so I tried to reinstall, but it wouldn't come up in the app store. . I went to iTunes and searched a podcast, then tapped it to download, it prompted me to show the podcast app in the store (since it doesn't come up in a search) I was able to download it then.

The exact same thing happened to me. Tried everything on the link from griff w to no avail.
Update: After restarting phone again, and waiting 15 min, it magically appeared and is working 🙂
Thanks, I did sort of the same thing (I think they call it a hard reboot, hold down both keys till restarts) and as you experienced, my app had magically reappeared (didn't even need to wait 15 min)! Thanks, you saved me a trip to the Genius Bar!

These steps are for purchased apps, but the Podcast app cannot be purchased. The instructions aren't relevant.
I have been struggleing with this as well and have finally found my solution.
For some reason I restricted access to the app. Doing this hides it from the home screen.
Steps to resolve:
Go to Settings - General - Restictions(enter passcode) - toggle on Podcast

I had this same problem. I have an Iphone 4 that I use just for music, vids and podcasts. I tried all the suggestions here but none of them worked. In the end I had to go to itunes and download the podcast app. It will allow you to download an older version if u don't have ios 10 and up.
