I have a friend who has given me their TMobile UK iPhone 5, after I destroyed mine.
I cannot get it unlocked to use in the states so I am selling it.
I want to find out how many GB it has. I don't have a sim card for it. It looks like the roadblock is not having one.
Is there a way for me to run a diagnostic on it without having a sim card to determine how many gb it has?

I tried. He's travelling and hasn't gotten back to me since yesterday. Basically he left his phone in New York last week before going back to London and told me don't bother sending it to him because he already has a new one.

You can spend a great deal of time either waiting for your friend or trying to discover a workaround. It might be easier to insert a SIM and go through the configuration process. Any SIM card will do. Go to a mobile store, tell them what you're trying to accomplish and ask if they will comp (for free) a useless one for that purpose. You could also borrow one form a friend.
