Q: 2009 unibody MBP airport upgrade?

I have a mid 2009 2.53 ghz core 2 duo unibody macbook pro and I was wondering what was the best upgrade for the internal airport card? If its not much of an upgrade I would rather not do it also. I just need the MBP to receive signals through my garage door once it closes. When the door is open I get decent signal but once its closed it lights out for the web!!!! I also just ordered a router signal repeater/extender thsat may solve the issue...lets hope

    If your garage door is metal, just about anything you do won't really be effective. To get a Wi-Fi signal to penetrate through metal would require one of two things: 1) A high power transceiver, or 2) Setting up a roaming network which requires a wired link between wireless routers. And metal is not the only issue for Wi-Fi interference.

     

    As you can imagine both of these options will come at a cost. In the case of the former option, a significant cost.
