Q: Updated firmware, DAC doesn't work

I recently updated my Airport Express to firmware 7.6.4, now my DAC will not work. I have a ARCAM rLink DAC. Any suggestions?

Understood. I can't explain why nor has Apple released anything about this that I am aware of.

Have you tried downgrading the firmware to see if your external DAC is supported again?

If you use the Express' internal DAC does it still work? If you connect a digital cable between the Express and another digital receiver does that work?

I was not aware that the Express has an internal DAC. I am guessing that I need an optical out to RCA cable. I don't have another digital receiver.

Yes, the Express does have an internal DAC. Its audio port is a dual-purpose analog/digital output. You can either use a 3.5 mm stereo analog or a 3.5 mm TOSlink digital connector with it.

That is all well and will do for now. The connection of 3.5 mm stereo analog output weeks, but I prefer my DAC. The loss of its function coincided with the firmware update.

Reverting to firmware 7.6.3 worked. I will report to feedback somewhere. Thanks for your help.
