cannot view avi files

cannot view avi files

I am trying to view .AVI files in Quicktime, the screen opens blank and the timer moves forward but no picture appears. Help would be appreciated.

Try installing Perian or VLC; AVI is a container, not a format, and some AVIs just can't be played in Mac OS X.

QT support .mov better, but not .avi. Besides to use another player, you can try to do a simple conversion with the video converter. It's kind of the tool to convert .avi to .mov for QuickTime, for the occasion that you need QT to edit your videos.
