Why is my iPad apps downloading on my iPod touch

Why is my apps downloading on my iPod touch? I'm really frustrated now because it has taken up a gig of my Internet and we only have 4 gigs. It has even downloaded apps on my iPod where I started somewhere else and stopped it. Please let me know how to turn it off
