Q: What does "CRC error" mean? On an iPhone 4S iOS 6.1.3

My iPhone 4S keeps shutting off by itself.  When it wakes up it shows the apple logo, as if it had been reset.  Looking in the diagnostics log there are many errors that say "CRC error".  What does this mean?  How can I fix it?  I have restored the OS and reset the phone but it keeps happening.

And the battery indicator is stuck...

The crc err! is located in a Panic.plist window.

The iPhone has 2 years of use... he´s very old jeje

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Then it is time to take the device to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider in the country where it was originally sold (warranty and support are NOT International) for evaluation and possible replacement.

Did you find a solution?  i have this same problem (Panic.plist, CRC ERR! and stuck battery indicator) on my iphone 5.  less than one year old, but i didnt but the extended warranty so i dont think its still covered.  my phone is rebooting on its own every few minutes and pretty much unusable.  =(

HEre's what I did to fix it: http://complicatedmelody.com/crc%20err%20iOS

Here's what I did to fix mine.

    1. Connect the unit to a laptop and open iTunes app.
    2. Back-up your files first. By clicking on iPhone then Back Up Now button.
    3. Check if iTunes is of its latest version. Click on iTunes then Check for Updates. Make sure to update to the latest version.
    4. Set unit to DFU mode. You will enter DFU mode by pressing power button and home button at the same time for 10 seconds. Continue to press the home button but unhold the power button until a message will appear in your iTunes app. It will ask you to restore your unit to its latest OS.
    5. Click Restore button. iTunes will download the software and automatically update your unit. Don't unplug until done.
    6. It will ask you to setup your unit again. Make sure to Restore from your previous backup (from step 2).

this doesn't work..  you might have had a different problem..  running 7.1.2 on 5s and every 3-5 minutes even after back-up,restore, etc. my device is still cycling..   :-(

...just started today for me after first reporting power stuck at 43%.. after reboot fully charged at 100% but now power cycling every 3-5 mins..  did backup and restore (with a bunch of reboots in the middle) and it came back to the same state all over again..  CRC errors are usually memory issues.. and well written software should block out bad memory sectors to avoid hitting them again, right?

That's unauthorized service.  That voids all support form Apple, regardless of your warranty status, and therefore is not recommended.

Apple does not sell user-serviceable parts.  Any battery you can buy from a third party is therefore either:

    A) Counterfeit.

    B) Stolen.

    C) Salvaged from another device.

Ton anyone reading vrsfromdrobeta's post, do not follow those instructions unless you are prepared to have your device permanently unserviceable and unsupportable by Apple.  It is a far better option to simply request that Apple replace the battery for the standard $79 USD + tax.

To fix CRC ERROR is simple:

Cause: The battery is in final lifecycle.

Fix: Change battery in genius bar.

    Workaround: Just DISABLE 'Battery Percentage' in Settings -> Battery;

This solution work for me, after 2 months between finds and tests.
