Is it dead?

Hey all,

i have a Macbook (13-inch Mid 2007, Black) that just randomly stopped working. I don't remember if it shutdown due to low battery or if it was shutdown normally. It will not turn back on, nor will it charge the battery. I'm asuuming the battery is still good because when it had first stopped working it had a single green LED, then after 2 days of charging it dropped down to a single rapid flash LED.

Things i have tried:

  • using two different chargers (T & L)
  • resetting SMC
  • running on AC only (battery removed)

nothing seems to work. I would prefer to not take it in for service, (cost of service for this macbook > used working macbook). Lastly i could buy a new battery, but skeptical about results. What say you all?

Hi ...

Many reasons why a Mac may not turn on so try here > Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on

And make sure the adapter is ok > Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters

If you don't hear the startup chimes, that means your Mac has not passed it's startup diagnostics. That's not good.
