Safari 4.0.4 not loading Gmail standard view?

Hello!

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.3. Before, I was running 10.5.8.

Before I updated, Safari would run Gmail's standard view perfectly fine. After the update though, Safari won't even load Gmail. It'll get to the loading page, and the blue bar will get 3/4th full and then it won't even load anymore.

I really need access to Gmail's standard view. My school uses Google+ Hangouts for their meetings, and without Gmail I have no access to my account.. is there anything I can do or do I need to reinstall 10.5.8? I'd rather not do that, because the websites I use no longer support that version anymore, and that's the whole reason why I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Would updating to 10.6.8 help? I'm not sure my computer would be able to handle it..

I'm running Safari 4.0.4 now, and I don't remember what version I was running before.
