Q: itunes upgrade - files gone

I updated itunes this week and then synced my iphone.  My playlists and ringtones disappeared.  My music is till there but when I try to sync to my phone it says there are no music files (all are selected with the check mark). Any idea where my playlists and ringtones went and/or how to get my music back on my phone? Thanks!!
