my dvd player will not except a disc it is like it does not have power

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Finder > Preferences then select the General tab.

Make sure CDs, DVDs, and iPods, is selected.

And open System Preferences then select CDs & DVDs

Select: Open DVD Player from the: When you insert a video DVD pop up menu.

Now with the DVD Player app open, from the DVD Player menu bar click DVD > Preferences then select the Player tab.

Select: Start playing disc whee you see: When a disc is inserted. Then click OK.
