Q: Buying a new iMac

I just updated from 4 GB of RAM to 12 GB. I'm not seeing the performance improvements I was hoping for, so now I'm looking through the discussions to figure out things that can help. Below are my results from EtreCheck. I've had problems uninstalling WD SmartWare, and ended up using the MacKeeper Smart Uninstaller. Unfortunately, it left the Launch Daemons behind.
Any recommendations?

MacKeeper is generally considered in these forums to be a huge source of problems, something to be avoided if you want a smooth running Mac.
WD has created an uninstaller for its utilities that are causing problems with Mavericks. You can download it at http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=124&sid=214&lang=en

WD has to be uninstalled. Installing Mackeeper was a great mistake, it has to go again.
2 On Mackeepers site there is an uninstall; (you do not have to answer the questions): http://mackeeper.zeobit.com/uninstall_mackeeper;
check your Keychain for entries from zeobit, 911, and Mackeeper.
Maybe there are leftovers afterwards, we'll see that in a new Etrecheck list.
3 In SystemPreferences/Users&Groups/LoginItems remove the WDQuickView entry with the minus sign underneath.
4 There are two LaunchDaemons folders: /Library/LaunchDaemons and /System/Library/LaunchDaemons:
delete all entries in there which begin with com.wdc. and com.zeobit.
5 the same in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and User/Library/LaunchAgents.

Whatever antivirus you have installed on your iMac, you need to completely uninstall this per the developer's instructions.
Check the deveolper's website to see how this needs to be uninstalled.
Antivirus isn't necessary with Macs and OS X and can actually affect OS X performance.

Just guessing, but I think you are looking in the user Library folder (the one in your home folder), not the root level Library folder or the Library folder inside the root level System folder.
The path names Lex mentioned are the key to understanding this. By convention, "/Library/" represents the root level Library folder & "System/Library/" represents the one inside the root level System one. Each item following a slash in the path name represents an item inside the preceding folder, so for example "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons" represents the LaunchDaemons folder inside the Library folder inside the System folder.
Strictly speaking, "User/Library/LaunchAgents" isn't a real path name. The full path name would be "/Users/{your user name}/Library/LaunchAgents", where {your user name} is the name of your home folder. The whole "/Users/{your user name}" part is usually abbreviated with a tilde, so "~/Library/LaunchAgents" is an equally valid path name for the LaunchAgents folder in your home folder.
But regardless of all that, it is much simpler & usually more goof-proof to run the uninstallers we have mentioned to remove MacKeeper & the WD utilities. Afterwards, you can use EtreCheck or the Finder (with the proper path names) to check on the results.

It looks like I've finally wiped out all the MacKeeper files, which took AntiVirus with it.

I wasn't there to explain about the Library folders but luckily R-C-R was there to explain. I do not have the tilde sign on my keyboard, so I avoid it. Thought it was clear enough.
The Mackeeper thing is gone now. Don't fall again for these type of apps....

But it was bothering me that I had those "shadows" on my screen caused by internal dust build-up. So I stupidly tried cleaning it out, following somebody's video on YouTube. All was going well, until I broke a bunch of pins off when reconnecting an internal cable...
I shudder to think how much the fix would have cost, and I needed a working computer quickly. So I ran up to the store and bought a new one, and refreshed it from my last backup from the old computer.

Aperture just has a new update, did you install that already?
And it is probably rebuilding the Library in the first days of a new computer, so give it a few days....
Check if there are updates for HP and your other non-apple apps and equipment.
