The Apple Stores generally do not ship outside of their country. Since there is no Apple Store in Greece, then unless you know someone in a country that does have an Apple Store who could buy a copy and send it to you, you'll probably have to try and find a dealer that still has copies, or look to private sellers such as on eBay. Make sure you get the retail disk - white label with a picture of a snow leopard - rather than the all-grey disks that came bundled with a Mac.

This situation is just not acceptable. Online stores SHOULD dispatch to countries where there is no Apple online store. Apple have an office in Athens, why can't they dispatch 10.6? When I rang the Greek helpline, they suggested I should buy 10.6 on eBay !!!

Why is the largest US company behaving like a Third World Bureaucracy ?

Don't Apple realise that their arrogance and inflexibility will impact on future purchases ?

I live on a small Greek Island, but there are at least 10 shops where I can buy Windows 8 and it's even easier with Linux.

Why can't we download 10.6 if the UK store is unable to print a Greek address?

Unless my problem is resolved, I will write to Senior Management in California and I would urge others to do the same.

Snow Leopard has never been available as a download in any country. It is a big program. Varjak's post gives you the important factor of buying the retail version.

However, if you do buy this version, you will have to update it via the combo update and then follow with various Software updates. So you are prepared ...

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1

But it is a System worth having, albeit that it is no longer officially supported. Many people regard it as the best System Apple ever launched.

You are skirting around my point.

Apple has a UK online store perfectly capable of sending 10.6 to Greece.

But adopting a dog in the manger attitude reminicent of a third world bureaucracy it chooses not to supply an EU country with no online Apple Store. We are supposed to have a single market, fat chance with Apple inc.

Apple has a big office in Greece, but it is unable to suggest ONE SOURCE OF SUPPLY for 10.6 in Greece. It suggests I order through Ebay!

You say that Snow Leopard is a large program unsuitable to download, so WHY are Apple making Mavericks available for download for free ? I imagine Mavericks is even larger.

Why do Apple enthusiasts defend the indefensible ?

Apple is no longer the innovative small new kid on the block, it is the largest corporate giant in the US.

It can and should do much better than this.

But they don't, for whatever reasons they have chosen.

If none of the Apple dealers have copies left, then that is what you will need to do unless, as I suggested to the OP back in September, you can get someone in a country with an Apple Store to buy you a copy and ship it to you.

All we can say is that Apple has never made Snow Leopard available as a download in any country. Why they have not done so no one here can say out of knowledge, though my guess is that is at least in part due to the need to have a bootable DVD which many people would have trouble burning on their own.

All we're doing is giving you the facts. Like it or not, that's the way the situation is.
