Problem Using Apple ipad Camera connection kit

Using Apple Ipad camera connection kit with a 32GB sd card corrupts the card. The photos download OK but when I put the card back into the camera it can take up to 5 mins for the camera to start. I then have to re-format the card. Any info on this would be helpfull. My ipad is an early one with latest software on.
