I have my airport extreme plugged in within range but the device does NOT appear in airport utility (on the left). Please advise.

To extend wifi range, I plugged in my airport extreme within exisitng range but the device does not appear in my airport utility (on the left of the screen). The airport extreme is blinking amber. Please advise. Thank you.

The AirPort Extreme can extend the signal from another Apple router wirelessly, so as long as you have a 802.11n version of the products, the extend function should work.


Please check to locate the Model No of both of your AirPort routers. It will be on the bottom of the device. Starts with an "A" followed by four numbers, as in "A x x x x".


Post back with that info.


We also need to know the version of AirPort Utility that you are using. If you are not sure, click the AirPort Utility menu in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About AirPort Utility and post back with tht info as well.
