How to import/export individual tracks

I have a friend who records in Garage Band in the iPad. I use Sonar-Cakewalk on the PC (which is similar to Pro-Tools) and we are interested in collaborating by recording individual tracks in our separate studios and sending them back and forth. I have done this plenty of times with people in the past, but never with Garage Band.

Does my friend need to by a Mac and get the Mac version of Garage Band in order to be able to import/export individual tracks (aif/wav)?

I'm assuming this is not possible on the iPad version.

Side question - how can my friend export and share his iPad Garage Band files so I can open them on Garage Band on my iPad?

I appreciate any responses.

if the iPad version of Garage Band also has the ability to import an audio file (perhaps through iTunes) as a track into a GB file?

GarageBand on the iPad can import audio files from the Loop Browser. Your friend should sync the audio files to the iPad using iTunes, then the audio files will be available in the loop browser in GarageBand.

See this, for what is possible on the iPad: Get started
