sound problems

Kia ora, this morning when trying to listen to music, the sound cut out & the volume buttons wouldn't work. Same happened trying to watch youtube. But it's still ringing fine? I've checked the settings, rebooted, turned off all the apps which works for a bit & then no sound & volume buttons/slide don't work again - any ideas?
