What external read / write DVD drive is best for imac

Any USB CD drive will work, I have a number of LG drives which are a great deal cheaper than most others.

There is no "best for Mac." "Different folks for different folks." It's all about your personal preference. Whichever one you decide to purchase, make sure you read all of the reviews.

I personally use a LaCie external burner drive.

I've had a LaCie for years; I've also heard good things about LG. I'd rather have one that's a bit bulky instead of a cool slim one as long as it works reliably and will read most anything (which means a tray model).

I agree with Gary. I use a Samsung Super Writemaster that cost less than $40 from Amazon. Has so far worked perfectly for two years.
