How come my iTunes library loses files. "File not Located"

When I connect my iPad or iPhone to the comnputer and open iTunes, many of my songs are missing their location. I have to manually search for them. I find some of the albums but iTunes no longer recognizes or has no music inside the album, please help! thanks kindly

Sounds like iTunes has lost track of some of the content in iTunes.

You can use this article to help locate the files:

If the content was purchased from the iTunes store, you can always download the songs free of charge again.

Once all the media is located it may be a good idea to consolidate the media so it is all in the same place.
