Old airport express do not work with Mountain Lion

First try AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion. If that version does not install, go on to the next series of steps.

Here are the basic steps to install version 5.6 under OS X Lion (versions 10.7.3 +) or OS X Mountain Lion using CharlesSoft's Pacifist:

1. If you haven't already download the AirPort Utility disk image file directly from Apple Support Download
2. Place the resultant AirPortUtility56.dmg file onto your Mac's Desktop.
3. Run Pacifist.
4. Click on the Open Package option. Find the disk image file that you just placed on your desktop, and then, click on Open.
5. The utility is located as follows: Contents of AirPortUtility56.dmg > Contents of AirPortUtility56.pkg > Contents of AirPortUtility56Lion.pkg > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 5.6.app
6. Drag AirPort Utility 5.6.app to your Mac's /Applications/Utilities folder.

You can now run the AirPort Utility from the Utilities folder.

I followed all the steps without trouble. But when I want to run AU 5.6, I get a "You can't use this version of the application "AirPort Utility 5.6" with this version of OSX."

Then " You have Airport Utility 5.6" 5.6.

I run OS 10.9.

Any clue master?

Apple has shut off access in Mavericks for AirPort Utility 5.6.

You can use an older Mac running an older version of the Leopard or Snow Leopard operating system, or even a PC to administer the older Express.

If I set up the older express using a pc, will my macbook (running Mavericks) and iphone (ios7) be able to connect to the wifi it creates?
